It’s time to make the critical shift from leading the business by yourself to leading an organization of people. At P2Excellence, we help you navigate the uncharted territories of organizational growth with clarity and confidence.
As we approach the close of 2023 and the NEW START of 2024 we are immersed in the joyous festivities and year-end obligations that tend to keep us leaders on our toes. It’s a bustling season, with various priorities vying for our time and focus.
This is a time for reflection on the past year and planning for the year ahead.
This week, I’ve been reflecting on your qualities as a leader, characterized by your intentionality and generosity. Your willingness to give your time, energy, financial resources, and unique talents doesn’t go unnoticed. You’ve consistently shown up, and for that, I celebrate you.
I’d like to encourage you to prioritize self-care and rest. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Being present for others necessitates being present for yourself. Planning for self-care and self-generosity isn’t selfish; it’s a means of self-preservation and showing up for others as your best self.
This month, take a moment to articulate your aspirations to end this year the way you want to and to start the new year with a new vigor and passion.
Considering your current season, values, and gifts, identify your priorities and where you can intentionally practice generosity. How can you make those around you feel genuinely seen and heard?
Here are some thoughtful suggestions:
- Celebrate the Team: Extend your appreciation to both your home and work teams. Personalized messages delivered through notes, phone calls, or face-to-face interactions can make a significant impact. Specify how each individual has contributed to the organization and your personal journey.
- Support Your Well-being: Lead by example when it comes to self-care, and encourage others to follow suit. Burnout should never be the objective; our goal is to cross the finish line successfully with the team’s well-being intact. Go to the spa, start a journal, take a vacation away from email. You have heard it all – now do it and LEAD by example.
- Plan for “Spontaneity”: Consider organizing moments of “planned spontaneity.” These are moments where you’ve prearranged a surprise, and the recipients experience it as entirely spontaneous. Whether it’s surprise bonus checks, holiday gift cards, homemade treats, or unexpected time off, the key is to convey that people matter.
As we approach the holiday season, all of us at P2Excellence wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with you once again in the upcoming year.
With warm regards and a hopeful spirit for 2024,
